AI Consulting for
SMBs
in 2026

Diagnosis, roadmap and prioritized use cases with ROI estimated in 4-12 months.

Concept

Advisory that decides what to do, not that sells code.

AI consulting translates business objectives into concrete use cases. It decides what to automate, with which technology and in which order. The output is judgment: process diagnosis, prioritized roadmap and investment plan.

It is engaged before committing a large budget to avoid scope errors and compare real options.

Symptoms

If you recognize yourself here, we are already talking.

Seven signs we see recurring in companies that end up hiring AI consulting. None on its own means anything. Two or three together, yes.

No 01

Your team spends hours on repetitive tasks that feel automatable

Manual reading of emails, copying data between systems, drafting routine replies, ticket classification. We tell you what to automate, with which tool and when it pays back.

No 02

You are about to commit a serious budget to an AI project

A short external-judgment session before signing a large project surfaces simpler alternatives and scope errors that are hard to see from inside.

No 03

You need to comply with the EU AI Act without slowing innovation

From 2026 most business AI uses fall under the European AI Regulation. We separate what you can do today from what requires documentation or audit.

No 04

You tried AI on your own and the results fell short

You experimented with ChatGPT, Make or a chatbot, but it did not translate into saved hours or new revenue. Prioritization and judgment are missing.

No 05

Every vendor pitches their product as the universal solution

An independent consultant benchmarks several tools with your real data: cost, maintenance, risk and learning curve. No affiliations skewing the recommendation.

No 06

You have data but no idea what to do with it

Full CRM, scattered spreadsheets, ticketing history, WhatsApp conversations. We design which pipeline to build so that data produces decisions, not reports.

No 07

You want to upskill your team, not depend on a vendor forever

We transfer judgment: your team learns what to ask AI, how to evaluate results and when to scale. No indefinite contracts.

Methodology

How we usually work.

Not all four phases are always done. Each proposal adapts to the client: what adds value stays in, what doesn't, out.

Diagnosis

01

Always

Conversations with key areas, process map, inventory of data and tools. The phase we never skip: without it, the rest would be opinion.

Tends to bring Findings prioritized by impact × effort

Roadmap

02

When it adds value

For mid-size or larger scopes we prepare an ordered plan. For one-off cases or a single clear process, no need — we go straight to testing.

Tends to bring Adoption plan matched to scope

Real test

03

If it makes sense

We implement a concrete case with your data to validate before committing more. It does not always reach production on first try, and that is fine: sometimes the lesson is it is not worth it.

Tends to bring Validated learning in your context

Scale

04

If it works

When what we built creates real value, we replicate the pattern, train your team and hand judgment over. If it does not work, we say so and stop.

Tends to bring Autonomous team and judgment transferred

Difference

We are not a marketing agency rebranding AI.

AI marketing agencies

  • ·Repackage ChatGPT with a nice domain
  • ·Bill for visual deliverables, not impact
  • ·Recommendations biased by their catalog
  • ·Lock-in with their proprietary platform
  • ·No real technical profile inside

Utilia

  • ·Real technical profile, not just sales: we speak the same language as your IT
  • ·Independence: we benchmark tools against your data
  • ·Every proposal is tailored to the client, no off-the-shelf packs
  • ·We hand judgment over to your team, not create dependency
  • ·Honest about what AI cannot solve

Questions

What people ask most.

What is AI consulting and how is it different from AI development?

AI consulting is strategic advisory: we decide what to automate, with which technology and in which order. Development is the technical execution. We offer both, but you can hire consulting alone if you only need judgment.

How much does AI consulting cost in 2026?

We tailor every proposal to the client: it depends on scope, areas involved and duration. The first diagnostic session is free, and from there we issue a clear estimate for your case.

How fast do you see ROI?

In well-prioritized projects, typical ROI is 4-12 months. Low-code automation pilots usually pay back in 3-6 months. Custom development takes longer but creates lasting advantage.

Do I need clean data to start?

You do not need perfect data. You need accessible data. Part of the consulting is to decide what is feasible with what you already have and what requires cleanup first.

What about regulatory compliance (EU AI Act, AESIA)?

Every use case falls into a risk category under the EU AI Regulation. During diagnosis we classify your uses and design required documentation and controls. Most SMB applications are minimal or limited risk.

Are you a marketing agency rebranding services as AI?

No. Our consultants are technical (engineering, data, MLOps), not marketing. If you need commercial strategy we refer you elsewhere at no cost; we do not pretend to be what we are not.

Do you work with companies outside Spain?

Yes. We serve clients across the EU and Latin America in English and Spanish. For remote projects, the first session is over video.

Start with a conversation.

60 minutes. We understand your business, explore 2-3 candidate use cases and tell you honestly whether it makes sense to continue or not. No pressure, no clauses.
